Custom Titles for Mods and Admins

When implementing this new feature/trick posted by Lesigner Girl here we discovered that you also need this line at the start of your CSS custom titles for your mods and admins to have a completely custom title.

.postlistusertitle { position: relative; z-index: 1; } * html .postlistusertitle { position: static; }

If you leave this line out of your CSS then the regular title will show up below your custom title.

Re: Custom Titles for Mods and Admins

Actually, Rick, in order to prevent the actual title from appearing below the custom title, you need to increase the number on the negative margin so that anything below the custom title will move upward on the page.

The code you posted should be used in conjunction with the increased negative margin, because without the z-index, the actual title will basically become a background behind the custom title. But with the z-indexing, you're using the custom (fake) title to hide the actual title.

Also very important when trying to hide one title with the other is to add relative positioning to the code I posted previously, along with a z-index of 2 or higher.

Thanks to your mention here, I edited that post.

I did the extra negative margin without the z-index layering with your name to show you what I mean. After I know you've seen it, I'll put it back to normal.

A small note: The static positioning is for browsers that don't recognize attribute selectors.

I knew about the z-index deal. We had fun with that one with the little running men chasing Queeny for a bit over in the Directory before it was fixed (I don't remember if it was you or I that fixed it) emoticon

I should have remembered about the negative margins because I had to try like 5 settings to get Firles title right.

Maybe I need to start making my coffee stronger or get more sleep emoticon

Sleep and coffee both help. emoticon

With Queeny, wasn't the the :visited bit missing a dot before the classname? I recall not noticing the error until someone else pointed it out because I hadn't visited Queeny's profile in a while. emoticon

Way back when we first thought of the attribute selectors I remember you using the little running men in the testing side and it showed up like what you did here with my title... I could have sworn we had that on Queenys title before figuring it out...

You're welcome, Erika. emoticon

Rick, the only thing I remember happening with Queeny where that's concerned is that it was showing up next to her name everywhere on the board, not just on the post list.
