Chat program
Hi there,
If you look at the bottom of any Runboard you will see a link to what is now the official Runboard Chat. What you may not know is that you can create your own temporary chat room for events on your own board! The temporary chat room will stay in place for 200 minutes (over 3 hours) so you have plenty of time to play

Re: Chat program
I have followed the bandwidth usage for several months now for both the rbbt.net and the chatroom and can say with a fair amount of confidence that permanent rooms for Premium Boards is a new perk.
Since the chatrooms are on a different set of servers from the message boards getting a permanent room will be on a request only basis and not something done automatically for Premium Boards.
So if you upgrade your message board to a Premium Community and wish to have a permanent chatroom for that community you will have to ask for it here. At least until/if we figure out a better way to handle it.

Re: Chat program
Hello, I am a total geek on this; I have just opened up my own runboard and would like to add a permanent chat room to it. We will be a small community, but we would like to chat in privacy, as we did on another forum we were on and which has now closed. Can I import an outside chat room, or can I have one from runboard? Help me please! Many thanks!

Re: Chat program
Hi,
You can click on the "chat link" which allows you to create a temp chat room for your board. or you can set up a "shout box."

Re: Chat program
Thak you, but where do I find those please? Totally at sea here! We actually want our own private permanent chat box, what does a temporary one entail? How long will we be able to use it and will it be private to us only please?
Sorry to sound so dim, but I have never done anything like this before, it's very strange and a bit daunting cos I don't want to do anything nasty to my new forum!

quote: You can click on the "chat link" which allows you to create a temp chat room for your board. or you can set up a "shout box."
If you look at the bottom of this board, or just about any page at Runboard, you'll see a link that says "Chat". Click on it.
You can either register a chat account, or sign in without a password. Once you're signed in, there will be an option at the bottom of that page that says "Create room". Click on it.
On the next page, type in a room name. In the drop box, choose "private". Since you made it private, you will have to tell people the address of this room, which will look like this:
http://www.rbbt.net/x7chat/index.php?act=frame&room=ROOM_NAME_HERE
ROOM_NAME_HERE will be whatever you named the room.
There is a time limit on how long the room will stay open, since it will be a temporary room. If it times out, you'll need to re-create it.
