Re: How to mask your forum name
Why would anyone want to do that? All it does is put your board into a frameset (horrible for search engine rankings and creates other accessibility issues) and adds an ugly white bar at the bottom of the screen.

Re: How to mask your forum name
I would guess the concept idea behind this would be to create a unified look and feel between a website and the Runboard forums. For example: If a forum for rbbt.net was created it might be nice if the url could be masked to show www.rbbt.net/forums instead of www.runboard.com/brbbtnetforums
No I ain't going to do that, got enough going on to keep me busy

Re: How to mask your forum name
you can enter your site the old way as i said the forum will be masked if u give the masked link but if u give the old link it returns to normal http://www.runboard.com/boardxp so this dosent overwrite the boards name
and there are other sites that dont show that white bar (i tried them once tho i forgot the link :/)

Re: How to mask your forum name
Those sites probably pay to get rid of the white bar. I know what you're saying about the actual url not changing, and I never thought it would. If you go to the site via the runboard.com url, it won't be accessing the frameset, because you're not going to the url of the frameset. Likewise, if you enter the url that's created through the 3rd party provider, you're only visiting the frameset that happens to show your board in that frameset.
Unfortunately, if someone wants to save a particular thread page to their favorites when it's displayed through this frameset, they can't just use the "bookmarks" option on their browser's toolbar, because that would only bookmark the frameset that takes you to the main page of the board. Using Firefox, someone would have to right-click on the page, hover on "This frame," and then click on "Bookmark this frame," which most people probably wouldn't know how to do. Further, they would probably go the normal (toolbar) route, not realize they're not bookmarking the actual thread page, and become frustrated later when they can't find the page they thought they had bookmarked.
In addition to framesets being horrible for search engine rankings, this is a major reason why I would never put any site of mine in a frameset, which is all you're doing if you use a service like no-ip.com.
I appreciate that you have shared something with us that seems handy on the surface, and hope my negative review of this one doesn't deter you from posting others that might be really handy in the future.
Rick, if you were going to do this for rbbt.net like you described, all you'd have to do is set up a frameset on rbbt.net and display your board through that. If you used a 3rd party provider to do that, it wouldn't have an rbbt.net url, plus you'd probably have to pay them to get rid of the white bar.
